With so many options available, knowing where to start when it comes to placing a bet can take a lot of work. but what about trying something new like pool bets? In this article, we’ll tell you about an exciting betting market; many bettors overlook pool bets, specifically snooker events.

What is Snooker?

Snooker is a British modality of billiards that has been around for centuries, is enjoyed by many players, and is considered the most competitive game in its category.

It’s a two-player game played on a large snooker table using specialized cues and 22 balls.

The game’s goal is to pocket as many balls as possible to gain points; whoever scores more wins.

The rules of Snooker are intricate but can be easily understood after some practice. Players must alternately shoot at two colors – reds and colors – while considering the various scoring possibilities associated with them.

Professional and competitive amateur matches are officiated by a referee, who is charged with ensuring the proper conduct of players and making decisions “in the interests of fair play”.

The responsibilities of the referee include announcing the points scored during a break, determining when a foul has been committed and awarding penalty points and free balls, accordingly, replacing colors onto their designated spots after they are potted, restoring the balls to their previous positions after the “miss” rule has been invoked, and cleaning the cue ball or any object ball upon request by the striker.

Major snooker tournaments

Regarding snooker tournaments, the Main Tour includes 16 tournaments, of which the main ones are:

  • The Championship League (held from September to October).
  • The European Masters (in September).
  • The English Open (in October).
  • The Champion of Champions (in November, it does not participate in the classification).

There is also the World Seniors Tour, which consists of only four tournaments: World Seniors Championship, Seniors Irish Masters, The Senior Masters, British Seniors Open.

Bet Types

As in any other sport, you can bet the classic odds on the winner of the tournaments. And as far as individual matches are concerned, you can bet on the following markets.

Match winner. Predict which player will win the match, with a 50% chance of winning.

Full Frame Under/Over. With figures that range on average between 8.5 and 10.5 (but change depending on the player), you can bet that the total frames will be higher or lower than a certain number.

Frame Handicap. The number of net total squares of a previously applied handicap (such as -1.5, +1.5, +2.5).

Correct result. If a tournament is played at the best of the frames (from 5 to 35, depending on the event), it makes it possible to predict the exact final result in favor of one or the other player.
