Bale’s legacy in MLS is rooted in his goal in the 2022 MLS Cup Final, which gave the Californian side a partial tie and determined the definition of penalties against Philadelphia Union, representing the first league title for the club.
“There’s nothing even remotely close to Gareth’s goal in terms of historic moments for LAFC,” said co-chairman and general manager John Thorrington.
Brain drain
Some are concerned that the 2023 season may be of lesser quality due to the significant brain drain that has occurred.

Jhon Durán left the Chicago Fire and joined Aston Villa of the English Premier League.
Ismaél Koné, left CF Montréal and joined Watfford.
Djordje Mihailovic left CF Montréal and joined AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands.
Paxten Aaronson left the Philadelphia Union and joined Eintracht Frankfurt of Germany.
Alister Johnston joined Celtic from Scotland.
