Dana White, the president of the UFC, has had to deal for months with questions about his return. Although the juicy PPV sales that Conor represents are attractive, the executive does not seem very concerned about finding a rival before the doctors establish a precise date for the return.

“They know when I’m ready to come back, we’re going to do something big,” he responded at UFC 274 to constant questions.

Welcome him back to the ring

For their part, Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira offered to welcome him back to the ring, and they celebrate the Return of Conor McGregor.

But others speculate that Colby Covington, Khamzat Chimaev, and Kamaru “The Nigerian Nightmare” Usman are the possible opponents the Irishman would face upon returning to the UFC.

It is even mentioned that Nate Diaz could be his first rival to close the trilogy cycle. Although six long years have passed, Conor and Nate built a tremendous rivalry and a memorable fight at UFC 202.

In fact, Conor and Nate exchange insults on social networks almost every day to the delight of their followers. If McGregor isn’t ready to fight next quarter, Nate could fight Dustin Poirier or Khamzt Chimaev.

Oliveria is the one who most wants to face McGregor; the Brazilian is willing to fight Conor without the light belt in between. 

He will be happy to receive him at 165 and up to 170 pounds, although ‘Do Bronxs’ wants to have his next fight in Brazil.

 The UFC plans a numbered event between December and January. If Charles wants to fight Conor, he will have to sacrifice the venue because Las Vegas or New York has a greater capacity for box office income than any other city outside the United States.

Possible Rivals

But those are not all the possible rivals; McGregor has a long list of options, and even the fans themselves throw names into the ring.

For example, one of the names that social network users mention the most is Dustin Poirier. Conor beat him a decade ago in a division in which he will never fight again at 145 pounds, and the reality is that the last two were too dominant for the Louisianan.

McGregor will continue to argue that it was a medical stoppage, but Dustin was punishing him with a lot of power before he was injured.

Dustin has been in the tug-of-war with Nate Díaz for weeks. If that fight takes place the winner could face McGregor in the next fight.

Michael Chandler

All eyes are on Chandler after his brutal knockout of Tony Ferguson at UFC 274.

Even McGregor himself commented on it and left a hint that he would like to face him.

“I’d have a nice knock off this guy, no doubt about it.

 A firework spectacle. I like the 170 shout also. Tipped him over. I’m definitely game to fight this guy at some stage in my career. 

I see it happening after tonight. Congrats on a solid win Michael and another barnstormer,” said McGregor on Twitter.

Chandler came to the UFC looking for the money fights and is willing to put in spectacular performances to deserve it. 

This factor makes some think that Chandler would not give such a good show against McGregor since a defeat could assure him more money than a victory.
