Formula 1 – Silverstone Grand Prix

Formula 1 arrives on British soil for the Silverstone Grand Prix. The weather in England for this weekend is still variable. It looks like there might be some showers at the beginning of the weekend during the F1 sessions and a high chance of rain for Sunday during the race.

Max Verstappen – Red Bull on Grand Prix

Max Verstappen appears to be headed for his second F1 title.

The Dutchman is the leader of the World Cup with 175 points and far behind his teammate Checo Pérez -2nd, with 129p- and Charles Leclerc -3rd, with 126p.

The Red Bull star is being a steamroller in this championship start. He has won six of the nine races.

In the last race held in Canada, the driver from the Netherlands once again shone with an epic victory.

He endured Carlos Sainz’s total offense like a wild boar and added the 26th victory of his career.

This Verstappen victory surpassed two myths in motorsports history, such as Niki Lauda and Jim Clark, who concluded their brilliant careers with 25 Grand Prix wins.

Adrian Newey, the most legendary engineer in F1, has placed Max among the greatest.

Newey has worked with some of the most significant drivers in history: Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Mika Hakkinen, and Sebastian Vettel.

“It’s not fair to compare drivers from slightly different eras, but Max is up there with the best.

I think his image as an aggressive driver is taken out of context. Maybe in his early F1 races, he was quite aggressive, but the image of the Last year was utterly unjustified.

Typically, he is a very calm driver and very precise when it comes to the truth.

He has tremendous reflexes, and it is a pleasure to work with someone like him, “said Newey.

Mercedes faces a crucial race at Silverstone

They will go out on the track with the greatest aerodynamic evolution of the year, a litmus test in the search for the keys to improvement for the W13.

The results of this race will determine if the team keeps the concept of vertical pontoons for the next season.

James Allison, technical director of the team, does not even rule out the remote option of getting the first victory of the season at Silverstone.

Allison’s hope is because Mercedes have dominated this track. They have won in eight of the last nine editions, seven of them by Lewis Hamilton.

“Nobody in the factory dares to say it, but we are optimistic. We cautiously plan to have a more competitive weekend compared to some of the ones we had recently,” Allison told ‘Sky Sports F1’.

“I think some features of the circuit will suit the car.

We don’t have a car capable of winning from the front yet, but I think as long as the car can go well through Maggots and Becketts and through the faster corners, we might have a good chance this weekend, and maybe if Red Bull stumbles, who knows, but I’m optimistic that we can have a better weekend,” he argues.

Alpine is looking to secure a foothold in the Constructors’ championship.

Esteban Ocon invites Alpine fans to have hope for the end of the season in statements he gave to ‘Race Fans.’

“We’ll have quite a few updates; it should be a good step for us… So yeah, high hopes,” declared Ocon after the Canadian GP.

He adds: “It’s going to be a great week from Tuesday for us at Silverstone.

So there’s a lot of work ahead of us, and hopefully, we can go well because we hope the car is where it should be.

“The team is making great strides and getting the updates ahead of schedule…it’s going in the right direction,” he details.

However, Alpine continues to suffer on circuits where slow corners are rewarded.

But Ocon is optimistic: “Since the beginning of the year, we have improved more than many other teams.

So we can be satisfied; we are still a long way off… But that is the goal; yes, they are next on the list,” Ocon said.

Ferrari does not lose confidence

When a team has confidence in its drivers, they usually respond with good results on the track.

Scuderia Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto seems pleased with the on-track performance of both of his team’s drivers.

“I think that race by race, he is gaining confidence, improving his driving, and getting faster.

He is happy and more relaxed, “I am quite sure that they will show in the next races that they are candidates for victory,” says Binotto.
