Derek Chisora vs Kubrat Pulev 2

Derek Chisora vs Kubrat Pulev 2

Saturday, July 9, will be the date for a great fight in the heavyweight category between Derek Chisora vs Kubrat Pulev 2.

The fighters will meet for the second time after Pulev won by a split decision in 2016, which led him to claim the European title.

The event will occur at the 02 Arena in London in a 12-round bout.

Kubrat “The Cobra” Pulev

With a record of 29-2, and 14 KOs, the 1.94-tall Bulgarian fighter is 41 years old and the favorite of the fight by several bookmakers.

Pulev still has good boxing ability as he was fighting for world titles as recently as December 2020 vs. Anthony Joshua for the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles.

The loss to Joshua was just the second of his entire career, the first coming against Wladimir Klitschko back in 2014.

Pulev is taller than his rival, which gives him the reach advantage over his opponent.

In addition, Pulev has tried to use mind games against his rival. Recently during training, he made a facetime call to Chisora.

The call between both fighters did not last long, and the interaction was as follows:

Chisora says: “They gave you my phone number; for what?”

“I am all the time in the gym,” Pulev replied. “All the time for you, I’m fit in the gym now. I like to see you, Derek.”

Chisora ended the call by saying: “I’ll see you soon, don’t worry.” He then hung up.

Things got a little weird at the end of the call as Pulev tried to eat his phone; we guess a gesture to show that he would destroy his rival next Saturday.

Derek “War” Chisora

The boxer born in Zimbabwe but who lives in the United Kingdom has a record of 32-11, with 23 KO’s; he is also a veteran, although he is three years younger than his rival.

Chisora made it clear that the recent losses have not affected him and that he is still hungry to continue fighting.

“What is the plan? I don’t know. Where is the road leading to? I don’t know. War. What’s the agenda? Where are we going?

This guy had a strategy against ‘AJ’ and it didn’t really turn out well did it.

For me, my plan is my fans – that is it. Entertainment. Do you understand? That’s what I like. I’ve lost so many fights; I’ve won a couple of fights.

I’ve won things that I wanted to win. I prefer fighting. I wake up every morning, and I go to training.

I’ve still got the hunger for it. I get these younger guys into the gym to spar me. I see in their eyes the fear they have by the time they get to rounds three or four.

I’m still hungry, and I still want to fight. I still want to cause damage to people, and I still want to entertain. Chisora said.

When asked about a possible retirement, Chisora dismissed it, “I enjoy it; it’s lovely. I enjoy training, I enjoy fighting, the whole promotion, that’s all.

“When I don’t enjoy it, I’ll announce my retirement,” Chisora responded.

Chisora last fought last December against former WBO world heavyweight champion Joseph Parker.

This was Chisora’s second loss to Parker.
