Cadillac wants to enter Formula 1

Cadillac f1

Andretti and Cadillac intend to race as soon as possible, and they project that 2024 would be possible. The team confirmed its intention to send an expression of interest to the FIA soon.

Michael Andretti, Mario’s son and head of the company that bears his name, says: “We have our eyes on the future, and I feel we are ready for the new era of F1.” Mark Reuss, President of General Motors:

“This is a historic moment for racing; we are prepared to align ourselves with Andretti and build a North American F1 team.”

“The FIA is exploring ‘expressions of interest’ and will provide more information shortly. The news from the United States is further proof of the popularity of F1. It is a joy to find the interest of two iconic brands such as General Motors Cadillac and Andretti”, said the international organization, which maintains that any process will strictly follow the FIA protocol and will take several months.

However, for months F1 has openly expressed its interest in adding more teams to the competition, as some fans claim it has become boring.

For his part, Mario is optimistic about the good acceptance of the proposal. “I am part of the discussions. I work with Michael every day and am in constant contact with the FIA president [Mohammed ben Sulayem]. We are working together on this; I already knew the events that were coming,” declared the F1 legend.

Opposition from the teams

While the FIA welcomes a new team joining F1, current teams aren’t as open to the idea.

In a tweet, FIA president Mohammed ben Sulayem expressed his frustration about the opposition from the teams. “It is surprising that there is such an adverse reaction to the news of Cadillac and Andretti.

The FIA has accepted entries from smaller and more successful organizations in recent years. We should encourage potential entries from global manufacturers like General Motors and proven competitors like Andretti and others.

Interest from teams in growing markets adds diversity and broadens the appeal of F1.”

The reason the teams oppose the entry of a new team is that the income that ten teams are now sharing would have to be diluted by eleven. For a new team to enter, they must pay an amount close to 200 million euros as a franchise.

But it is understood that there are teams against this Andretti-Cadillac partnership, which could establish itself as the premier North American team in the competition.

Michael Andretti said he was not surprised by the team’s reaction. “In F1, the owners look out for their own interest and not for what is best for the championship.

It is the difference with the president Mohammed (Ben Sulayem), who looks for the future of the sport and understands that the championship needs one or two new teams”. According to Andretti, Domenicali (F1 CEO) “was very happy when the Cadillac name came out.”

But F1’s reaction to the announcement was rather cold when they posted that they wanted to “ensure that the championship remains credible and stable and requires agreement between the FIA and F1.”

In addition to the teams, the manufacturers involved with the power units must also accept the entry of a new team, in this case, Mercedes, Ferrari, Honda (Red Bull), Renault, and Audi. It is unlikely that Cadillac will create its own engine if it enters, so it will also have to create an alliance with some of these manufacturers.

A more exciting F1 for bettors.

The Formula One (F1) is one of the world’s most popular and thrilling motor racing sports.

With its high-speed cars and nail-biting races, F1 has built an enormous fan base across the globe and even more so amongst betting enthusiasts.

Adding a new team to F1 would be an exciting prospect for bettors, as they would have access to more betting options and more competition between teams.

Adding a new race team would open up greater opportunities for those who like to place bets on F1 races.

Bettors could choose which team they think will win, who will secure pole position, or who will make it onto the podium at each race.

Furthermore, with more teams participating in each race, there is also greater potential for different outcomes that could bring even more excitement to fans and bettors alike.
